Diane C. Derr, PhD

Director

Diane’s practice-based research is framed within the areas of narratology, interaction aesthetics, and critical design. Within this territory she has two primary areas of inquiry: the construction of intertextual narratives across systems of communication, and the phenomenology of interaction enabled by emergent media technologies. Her practice investigates the construction of narrative and the formation of meaning across diverse modes and systems of communication and interaction. She has taught critical and speculative design, visual narrative, time-based media, and physical-computing at VCUarts Qatar.
