Richard Lombard

Contributor / Workshop Leader

Richard Lombard worked for a number of years at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (Communications) and Sotheby’s (Editorial for sothebys.com), and later landed at Material ConneXion, the original Materials Library. There, Richard was in charge of global design conferences, their quarterly publication, and ongoing relationships with art and design schools. After many years of advising universities on the benefits of a materials library, Richard traveled to Doha to practice what he had been preaching; and built the first academic materials library in the region at VCUQ. After leaving the region, Richard has taught in the graduate school for design at Politecnico di Milano, College for Creative Studies, and Pratt Institute School of Architecture, while also advising schools and professionals on materials, their usage, and their role in education.
